Greener Days- Episode 1: In preparation for the upcoming ICLEI World Congress in Edmonton (June 14 - 18, 2009; www.iclei.org), ACTV has filmed a series of webisodes featuring real Edmontonians who are incorporating sustainable measures in their everyday lives. This episode features Jessie Radies, owner of Blue Pear restaurant and Founder of Original Fare (www.originalfare.com), and Carissa deJong, a passionate loca-vore. Both discuss the benefits of eating a lo-cal and lo-carb(on) diet on your body, spirit, and community. So don’t go loco, go local!

Driven to Sustain
Informing the public about sustainability is key to building ecologically conscious communities. Tyson Jerry and Cloe Whittaker from the “Driven to Sustain” campaign (www.driventosustain.ca) are doing just that by driving across North America in a van powered by waste vegetable oil. Along their voyage they will not only attempt to break a world record, but will be visiting sustainable initiatives, speaking at schools and promoting their cause through various media outlets.

Wasteful Business...Working towards Zero-Waste
The commercial sector is the largest producer of waste in Alberta. But you would think given the incentives to save money and resources, that businesses would work to reduce their waste. In 2008, the Recycling Council of Alberta (www.recycle.ab.ca) offered a contest for businesses to get a waste audit and to encourage them to move towards zero waste. Join ACTV as it follows along on the waste audit to see how "Zero-waste" can become the norm in Albertan's business practices.
