 Active Citizens Television (ACTV) is an Alberta-based, not-for-profit, youth-driven new media initiative aimed to educate, motivate and “ACTV-ate” Albertans to discover and pursue sustainable living practices and promote ecological consciousness.
We are a collective of young artists, students, environmental professionals and active citizens who are producing web-based video and an interactive website to highlight local environmental initiatives, stimulate dialogue and creative solutions, and promote environmentally healthy and ecologically conscious communities.
With the participation of more than eight youth interns in the research, filming, and post-production of our videos this summer, and with the financial support of EcoTrust, Alberta Environment, and EcoAction, we have just finished producing our first series of webisodes. We will be releasing them on to our website steadily over the next few months. We hope that these videos will get you thinking, get you involved in similar environmental initiatives, and get ACTiVe.
As we always say, we wouldn’t have any content if it wasn’t for Albertans actively and creatively working on environmental initiatives, challenging the stauts quo, and working towards environmental solutions. We see our job as to spread the word about what is happening in Alberta.
Over the next few months we will be refining our website and building up resources to expand our productions to include more features from Calgary and Rural Alberta and engage youth in production across the province.
